Mystical Powers of the birthstone: Sapphires were once believed to be protection against snakes. It was said that if poisonous reptiles and spiders were placed in a jar containing the stone, the creatures would immediately die. The French of the 13th century believed that sapphire transformed stupidity to wisdom, and irritability to good temper.

Main sources of Aquamarine: Sapphire is mined in Australia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Other producers are Burma, Kampuchea, Kenya and Tanzania.

Interesting Facts: The Sapphire is second only to the Diamond in hardness, making it a durable gemstone for setting into jewelry. As nourishing to the soul as gazing up at the sky on a summer day, this brilliant blue gemstone is truly a heavenly choice!

Peridots Egyptian Cuisine

Egyptian cuisine is one of the most interesting cuisines in the world. While I was finishing my culinary degree at Johnson & Wales, we learned the intricacies of the cuisines from all over the world. Egypt's cuisine was the one of the most interesting. In the western world, we find new techniques to add flavor and style to food and cooking style, but not in Egypt. There, it is all original, traditional foods, which stand the test of time.
Egyptian dishes are simple and hearty, mostly made with naturally ripened fruits and vegetables and seasoned with fresh spices. The food in the south of Egypt is closely linked to North African cuisine, so it is zestier than that food found in the north; contrary to popular belief, neither region is especially hot.

Rubies - Thai Cuisine

Thai cuisine has been greatly accelerating, especially over the past few years. A lot of outside influences have contributed to the new flavors and tastes. Interestingly enough, modern kitchenware has also added to improved ideas and techniques of cooking fine Thai food. Today, good Thai food can be more creative than in the earlier years, when it was sort of two dimensional. Thai cooking evolved, according to natural influences from other countries, such as China and European countries. Thai folks enjoy a Chinese quick-frying method as well as a large choice of stir-frying entries in their kitchens.
Here are some Thai recipes for you to try...
Enjoy!!!

Pearl Design Ideas

Love this great gemstone… the pure classic beauty of the centuries. I wanted to find a pearl design of the Japanese Architecture. And a perfect place to find them is their traditional roofs. Love the dramatic look of pearl like circles (chrysanthemum) with the garish ornamentation of the great roof structures.

I am also using pearl design on many of my ceramics. It is actually one of my signature designs. Here are few examples.

Emerald - Colombian Cuisine

Colombian cuisine varies greatly, depending on the uniqueness of the many regions of this large, disperse country. Generally, Colombian cuisine includes some type of meat dish and even though they do not use a lot of vegetables, they do use lots of fruits. In fact, more than any other ingredient. Breakfast is more important to them than lunch and dinner.
Here are some fun recipes I would like to share with you!

1. May Birthstone Lucky Hand crafted hoops-- galit
2. Jeneve Green Emerald green feather fascinator --Pegasusmaiden
3. Green Quartz Colombian Emerald Earrings --scarlettshoppe
4. Vibrant Zambian Emerald--bohoboutique

This month, we are focusing on the birthstone of May, Emerald.

Birthstones are gemstones that are associated with each month.

May Birthstone: Emerald

Birthstone Color: Deep Green

Alternative Birthstone: Agate

Emerald is the birthstone for the month of May. This gem is suggested as an anniversary gift for the 20th and 35th anniversaries and as an alternate stone for the 55th wedding anniversary.

Mystical Powers of the birthstone: Some people believe that wearing an Emerald brings wisdom, growth, and patience. And as any couple in a long-term relationship would agree, all of these qualities are essential for a successful and lasting love. This may explain why a gift of Emerald for an anniversary -- or anytime -- is considered symbolic of love and fidelity.

Main sources of Emerald: Emeralds are found in many countries, but Columbia and Brazil are the major producers and Columbia is recognized as the source for the finest stones. They are also found in Pakistan, Russia, Australia, South Africa, India, Norway, and the United States.

Interesting Facts: Spring is a time of new growth and rebirth. And the intense brilliant green of the Emerald, May’s birthstone, is as refreshing to the eyes as a spring garden after a rain. Within it’s depths are often tiny fractures or inclusions, which the French call "jardin," or garden, because of their resemblance to foliage. The Egyptians were known to engrave Emeralds with the symbol for foliage to represent eternal youth, and to bury these jewels with their dead. The ancient Romans associated this gemstone with fertility and rebirth, and dedicated it to Venus, the goddess of love and beauty.
